|About Us Since 1987, Desperate Measures has been trading from our showroom in the Lady Bay area of West Bridgford, Nottingham. We have built a reputation for supplying high quality kayaking, canoeing and safety equipment, along with honest advice, to individuals, organisations and businesses throughout the UK, and, more recently, across Europe.|
We have designed this website to be used as an extension of our Nottingham showrooms. We hope that you will find everything that you need here, but if you do need anymore information, please contact use by e-mail or by phone (0115 981 68 15).
As in our showrooms, our staff will be happy to help. They are passionate about paddle sports and have a wealth of experience and know-how in all disciplines, as well as a depth of knowledge in other water sports and adventurous activities.

Please make sure that you include a contact phone number with your order.
When you place an order using any of the methods described above you are offering to buy products at the stated price, subject to these terms.
Please note that prices show a discount as given to all BCU or club members, any further discount offered is taken off the full RRP
When you place your order online we will send you an e-mail to confirm that we have received it. This e-mail is generated automatically so that you have a confirmation of your order details. The fact that you receive an automatic confirmation does not necessarily mean that we will be able to meet your Order.
Once we have sent the confirmation email we will then check availability and contact you with a further email. If the Product is available and the details of the order are correct, this email will be deemed an acceptance and will specify delivery details and confirm the price of the Products purchased. If the Product is not available we will also contact you via e-mail.
Desperate Measures may cancel any sale and not supply Products if it is reasonable to do so and may change or discontinue the availability of Products at any time at its sole discretion.
If an Order is cancelled, any payment made for the Products will be refunded in full.
This does not affect your Statutory Rights.
|Shipping And Handling Postage cost is £6.00 unless the total cost of the order is over £85, and then delivery is free. This excludes ALL Kayaks, Canoes and SUP Boards|
We send orders by various couriers, all of which will require a signature on receipt. If there is nobody available at the delivery address to accept delivery a card will be left to inform the recipient. Most of the couriers will attempt to delivery again the next day.
If our courier is unable to make a delivery after several attempts the goods will be held at their local depot for up to 3 days.
It is our customer's responsibility to ensure that somebody is available to receive the goods as all deliveries require a signature. If you miss the carrier you will need to collect from their depot. Please take with you the carrier company card and some other form of identification. Please contact the carrier company as soon as possible to avoid the goods being returned to us.
In the event that you select a business address for delivery, we shall be deemed to have delivered the order to its intended recipient by delivering it to the reception area of the business address.
Undelivered & not collected goods will be returned to us. In this situation a fee of £25 will be occurred to cover the our costs in getting the goods returned to us. If we re-send the goods a further carriage cost will be incurred which may exceed the original carriage costs.
It is our customer's responsibility to dispute with the courier whether or not a card was left or not
Please note that when choosing "Next Day Delivery" on a Friday, this will be classed as "Next Working Day" as we cannot guarantee any Saturday deliveries
"Next Day Delivery" cannot be guranteed for addresses in Ireland
For shipping outside UK and Ireland, please contact us with your full delivery address so we can caluclate the postage costs
|Delivery Schedule We will dispatch your order within 2 working days and you should receive your order within 5-7 working days depending on the courier. International orders are generally received in under 10 days.|
You must inform us within two working days if the goods are lost or damaged in transit so that we can make a prompt claim against the delivery company and correct the problem. Please quote your order number in all correspondence.
You agree that proof of delivery supplied by our delivery company is sufficient evidence to establish that goods have been received.
|Back Orders If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.|
|Tax Charges For orders made from the UK, the current VAT rate will be applied.|
|Credit Card Security When the order is placed at our website, credit card numbers are encrypted using 128 bit encryption. We receive a payment authorisation notice from RBS WorldPay or PayPal (depending which service you use)|
|Guarantee We guarantee your satisfaction. If you have any issues then please contact us immediately, in some cases the goods may have to be sent back to the manufacturer for them to cover the warranty|

As part of our efforts to make further improvements to the service we provide to our customers, telephone calls to and from Desperate Measures may be recorded or monitored and used for training purposes. To protect the operation of our computer systems we monitor incoming and out going email.
|Returns Policy Please keep your receipt/invoice for anything you buy from us. It will ensure we can help you, if you need to bring something back.|
Items that are not required or of the wrong size must be returned back to us within 28 days of purchase
This is subject to the following conditions:
- You must notify us within 3 working days by post, email or telephone of your intention to do this.
- The product must be unused, with their original tags attached
- Non stock items that are specifically ordered in will be subject to a 25% restocking fee
- We reserve the right to refuse a return or to require proof of identity
Please note that you are responsible for any return postage.
Where you are requiring an exchange we will charge you the postage & packing costs of sending the replacement. Large items such as kayaks and paddles may incur a higher charge that will be agreed with you. Payment for this must be provided before we send out the replacement item. This charge does not apply if you collect the replacement goods from our store.
If returning part of your order for a refund, and the remaining order order goes below the FREE postage value of £85. We have the right to deduct £6 from the refund which would have been the postage and packing charge
For international orders the charge will vary depending on the current cost of delivery to that country. For an accurate price please contact us before returning the item.
In the case of warranty returns this charge will be waived as long as the returned goods are clean and free from dirt to comply with current Health and Safety Regulations.
DVDs and books are not returnable unless defective.
